The complex and intriguing nose displays a melange of cool, crunchy tropical fruit, with passion fruit and guava dominating. The palate is still very youthful, with mouth-watering grapefruit and lemongrass notes along with cut grass and gooseberries.
This perfume driven Chenin blanc has intense tropical aromas extending from guava, pear, blackcurrant to citrussy notes ranging from grapefruit to lemon. The wine also has flintiness to it with nuances of jasmine. The palate is voluptuous with a smooth tropical finish.
Concentrated, elegant sweet melon fruit with honeyed almond, nougat, candied nuts and citrus notes following through on the pallet. A refined full mouth and lingering taste from the lees contact, French oak maturation, and supportive acidity.
Juice from the older block is fermented in amphora with skins and in barrels, whereas the juice from the younger vines were fermented in a concrete egg. The wine is matured in separate vessels for approximately 9 months and blended proportionally afterwards.
Produced from 100% Chardonnay, the Groot Phesantekraal Cap Classique Non-Vintage Blanc de Blanc displays a beautiful balance between the citrus fruit from the variety and the added complexity of the process of lees maturation.
